कठोपनिषत्् (katha upanišad),-कठोपनिषत्् (valli III), (S.-4, Ch.-3, V.-4) |
इन्द्रियाणि हयानाहुर्विषयाँ स्तेषु गोचरान् । आत्मेन्द्रियमनोयुक्तं भोक्तेत्याहुर्मनीषिणः ॥ ४॥ |
indriyāṇi hayānāhurviṣayā~ steṣu gocarān । ātmendriyamanoyuktaṃ bhoktetyāhurmanīṣiṇaḥ ॥ 4॥ |
indriyāni = the senses; āhuḥ = they say [are]; hayān = the horse; teṣu = they [the senses]; viṣayāṁ = the objects of the senses; gocarān = the paths, roads; ātma-indriya-mano-yuktam = the Self associated with the body; ie. Having the 5 senses and the mind as the 6 th ; bhoktā = is the enjoyer, experiencer; iti = thus; āhuḥ = declare; manīṣiṇah = the wise ones, the enlightened ones, the sages. |
The senses, they say, are the horses; the objects, the roads. The wise call the atman−united with the body, the senses and the mind−the enjoyer.
