धान्त्वद्रियान्तःकरणप्रसादं दधाच्च कान्तिं दहनप्रदीप्तम् । अशेषदोषोपचयं निहन्याद् अभ्यस्यमानं जलबस्तिकर्म ॥ २.२८ ॥

dhāntvadriyāntaḥkaraṇaprasādaṃ dadhācca kāntiṃ dahanapradīptam । aśeṣadoṣopacayaṃ nihanyād abhyasyamānaṃ jalabastikarma ॥ 2.28 ॥

Dhātu - live body tissue Indriya - senses Antaḥ-karaṇa - internal organ Prasādaṁ - essence, pure product Dadhāt - gives Ca - and Kāntiṁ - grace, beauty, brilliance Dahana - fire (Agni, digestive) Pradīptim - inciting Aśeṣa - all others Doṣa - Dosha Upacayaṁ - remaining Nihanyāt - decreases Abhyasyamānaṁ - by regular practice Jala - water Vasti - Basti Karma - action || 28 ||


By practising Basti with water, the dhâtus (living tissues), the indriyas (senses) and the antah-kKarana (the performer of physiological processes) achives prasadam (purity, satisfaction, calmness). It gives a glow (tone) to the body and promotes Agni Dipti (digestive fire). All disorders of the doshas (VPK) disappear.
