अथ नेतिः सूत्रं वितस्तिसुस्निग्धं नासानाले प्रवेशयेत् । मुखान्निर्गमयेच्चैषा नेतिः सिद्धैर्निगद्यते ॥ २.२९ ॥

atha netiḥ sūtraṃ vitastisusnigdhaṃ nāsānāle praveśayet । mukhānnirgamayeccaiṣā netiḥ siddhairnigadyate ॥ 2.29 ॥

Atha - now Netiḥ - Neti Sūtraṁ - thread Vitasti - length of 12 angula (width of 12 fingers) Su-snigdhaṁ - well smooth dipped in milk, ghee, oil Nāsā - the nose Nāle - into the passage Praveśayet - to enter, introduce, insert Mukhāt - from the mouth Nirgamayet - bringing out Ca - and Eṣā - this Netiḥ - Neti Siddhaiḥ - the professional Nigadyate - called || 29 ||


A cord made of thread, dipped in oil (su-snigdha) and then inserted through the nasal passage and pulled out through the mouth is called Neti Karma by yogis.
