कट्वाम्लतीक्ष्णलवणोष्णहरीतशाक सौवीरतैलतिलसर्षपमद्यमत्स्यान् ।
आजादिमांसदधितक्रकुलत्थकोल पिण्याकहिङ्गुलशुनाद्यं अपथ्यं आहुः ॥ १.६१ ॥ |
kaṭvāmlatīkṣṇalavaṇoṣṇaharītaśāka sauvīratailatilasarṣapamadyamatsyān ।
ājādimāṃsadadhitakrakulatthakola piṇyākahiṅgulaśunādyaṃ apathyaṃ āhuḥ ॥ 1.61 ॥

Amla - sauer
Tīkṣṇa - pungent, burning, intense
Lavaṇa - salty
Uṣṇa - hot, heating, warm
Harīta - green
Śāka - vegetables
Sauvīra - fermanted rice
Taila - oil
Tila - sesame seeds
Sarṣapa - mustard
Madya - alcoholic, intoxicating drinks
Matsyān - Fish
Āja - goats
Ādi - etc., others
Māṁsa - meat
Dadhi - curd, yogurt
Takra - buttermilk mixed with water
Kulattha - himalyan lentils
Kola - Chinese jujube, chestnut
Piṇyāka - oil cake
Hiṅgu - asafoetida
Laśuna - garlic
Ādyam - this to the beginning
Apathyam - unhealthy
Āhuḥ - is designated || 61 ||

Pungent, sour, salty, heating, green (raw) vegetables, ingredients that are fermented, greasy, or mixed with sesame oil, rape seed oil and/or mustard oil, fish, meat, cheeses, yogurt, legumes that are fatty, pungent or strong, oil cake, asafoetida, garlic, etc., are inappropriate.
