आसनं कुम्भकं चित्रं मुद्राख्यं करणं तथा ।
अथ नादानुसन्धानं अभ्यासानुक्रमो हठे ॥ १.५८ ॥ |
āsanaṃ kumbhakaṃ citraṃ mudrākhyaṃ karaṇaṃ tathā ।
atha nādānusandhānaṃ abhyāsānukramo haṭhe ॥ 1.58 ॥ |
Āsanaṁ - body position, ásana;
Kumbhakaṁ - retained inhale;
Citraṁ - different, various positions;
Mudrā - mudra;
Ākhyaṁ - named, with names (Akhya)
Karaṁaṁ - effect of action;
Tathā - likewise;
Atha - and, also;
Nāda - inner sound, cosmic sound;
Anusandhānam - directing attention, concentration, research;
Abhyāsa - exercise, practice;
Anukramaḥ - sequence;
hathé - In Hatha (yoga).

Hatha Yoga is a sequence of practices of different Ásanas, Kumbhakas and Mudras, and also concentration on the cosmic sound of the body (náda).
