पार्श्वपादौ च पाणिभ्यां दृढं बद्ध्वा सुनिश्चलम् । भद्रासनं भवेदेतत्सर्वव्याधिविनाशनम् । गोरक्षासनं इत्याहुरिदं वै सिद्धयोगिनः ॥ १.५६ ॥

pārśvapādau ca pāṇibhyāṃ dṛḍhaṃ baddhvā suniścalam । bhadrāsanaṃ bhavedetatsarvavyādhivināśanam । gorakṣāsanaṃ ityāhuridaṃ vai siddhayoginaḥ ॥ 1.56 ॥

Pārśva-pādau - the sides of the feet; Ca - and; Pāṇibhyāṁ - by both hands; Dradaṁ - hard, strong; Baddhvā - to node, to close, to wrap; Sunishcalam - completely motionless, perfectly quite; Bhadrāsanaṁ - Bhadrasana; Bhavet - is, be; Etad - like this; Sarva - all; Vyādhi - disease; Vināśanam - eliminated; Gorakṣāsanam - Gorakshasana; Iti - so, to this, Āhuḥ - to call; Idaṁ - this; Vai - is known; Siddha - perfect; Yoginaḥ - Yogis.


Hold the feet with the soles firmly joined to one another with both hands and be calm. This Bhadrásana is the destroyer of all diseases. This posture is known as Gorkshásana by the perfect Yogis.
