तत्त्वं बीजं हठः क्षेत्रं औदासीन्यं जलं त्रिभिः ।
उन्मनी कल्पलतिका सद्य एव प्रवर्तते ॥ ४.१०४ ॥ |
tattvaṃ bījaṃ haṭhaḥ kṣetraṃ audāsīnyaṃ jalaṃ tribhiḥ ।
unmanī kalpalatikā sadya eva pravartate ॥ 4.104 ॥ |
Tattvaṃ: the spirit ("the true nature, the so-called", Tattva)
Bījaṃ: (is the) Same (Bija)
Ha-ḥhaḥ **: (the combining of) the sun and the moon (Ha and Tha, i.e., Pranayama)
Kṣetram: (is the) field (Kshetra)
Audāsīnyaṃ: Passionlessness ("indifference", Audasinya)
Jalaṃ: (is that) water (jala)
Tribhiḥ: by (these) three (tri)
Unmanī ***: (in the form of the state) beyond the spirit (Unmani)
Kalpa-latikā: (the) wish-tree ("desire-liana", Kalpalatika)
Sadyaḥ: immediately (Sadyas)
Eva: certainly (Eva)
Pravartate: sprouts ("comes forth", pra + vṛt) || 104 ||

Tattva is the seed, Hatha the field, and Indifference (Vairâgya) the water. By the action of these three, the
creeper Unmanî thrives very rapidly.
