तावदाकाशसङ्कल्पो यावच्छब्दः प्रवर्तते ।
निःशब्दं तत्परं ब्रह्म परमातेति गीयते ॥ ४.१०१ ॥ |
tāvadākāśasaṅkalpo yāvacchabdaḥ pravartate ।
niḥśabdaṃ tatparaṃ brahma paramāteti gīyate ॥ 4.101 ॥ |
Tāvat: (same) long (Tavat)
Ākāśa: (the) space (Akasha)
Saṅkalpaḥ: (exists the) performance (Sankalpa)
Yāvat: as long as (Yavat)
Śabdaḥ: (the) sound (Shabda)
Pravartate: is heard ("acts", pra + vṛt)
Niḥ-śabdaṃ: soundless (nihshabda)
Tad: the (Tad)
Paraṃ: (is the) highest (para)
Brahma: Brahman
Parama-ātmā: (the) highest self (Paramatman)
Iti: so (iti)
Gīyate: it is called ("sung", gā) || 101 ||

So long as the sounds continue, there is the idea of âkâśa. When they disappear, then it is called Para Brahma, Paramâtmana.
