घण्टादिनादसक्तस्तब्धान्तःकरणहरिणस्य ।
प्रहरणं अपि सुकरं स्याच्छरसन्धानप्रवीणश्चेत् ॥ ४.९९ ॥ |
ghaṇṭādinādasaktastabdhāntaḥkaraṇahariṇasya ।
praharaṇaṃ api sukaraṃ syāccharasandhānapravīṇaścet ॥ 4.99 ॥ |
Ghaṇṭā: (of) bells (Ghanta)
Ādi: etc. ("getting to the top", Adi)
Nāda: (from) sound (nada)
Sakta: (which) is attracted ("attached", Sakta)
Stabdha: (and then) stands still ("immovable", Stabdha)
Antaḥ-karaṇa: (in the form of) the mind (antahkarana)
Hariṇasya: the antelope (Harina)
Praharaṇam: (the) killing ("fighting", Praharana)
Api: also, even (api)
Su-karaṃ: easy ("easy to make", Sukara)
Syāt: is ("be", as)
Araara: (the) arrow (Shara)
Sandhāna: (im) laying on (sandhana)
Pravīḥaḥ: (man) sent (is, Pravina)
Ced: if (Ched) || 99 ||

The antahkarana (mind), like a deer, becomes absorbed and motionless on hearing the sound of bells, etc., and then it is very easy for an expert archer to kill it.
