बद्धं तु नादबन्धेन मनः सन्त्यक्तचापलम् ।
प्रयाति सुतरां स्थैर्यं छिन्नपक्षः खगो यथा ॥ ४.९२ ॥ |
baddhaṃ tu nādabandhena manaḥ santyaktacāpalam ।
prayāti sutarāṃ sthairyaṃ chinnapakṣaḥ khago yathā ॥ 4.92 ॥ |
Baddhaṃ: tied (is, Baddha)
Tu: but, while (Tu)
Nāda: (the unpunished) sound (nada)
Bandhena: Through the Shackles (Bandha)
Manas: (if the) spirit (manas)
Santyakta: abandoned (has, santyakta)
Cāpalam: (and his) unsteady being (Chapala)
Prayāti: arrived ("he", Prayata)
Sutarāṃ: complete, to the highest degree (Sutaram)
Sthairyaṃ: (to a state of) immobility ("Strength", Sthairya)
Chinna: circumcised (have been, chhinna)
Pakḥaḥ: (whose) wing (Paksha)
Kha-gaḥ: (a) bird ("air-space traveler", Khaga)
Yathā: like (Yatha) || 92 ||

The mind, captivated in the snare of the nâda, gives up all its activity and, like a bird with clipped wings, becomes calm at once.
