अथ सिद्धासनम्
योनिस्थानकं अङ्घ्रिमूलघटितं कृत्वा दृढं विन्यसेत् मेण्ढ्रे पादं अथैकं एव हृदये कृत्वा हनुं सुस्थिरम् ।
स्थाणुः संयमितेन्द्रियोऽचलदृशा पश्येद्भ्रुवोरन्तरं ह्येतन्मोक्षकपाटभेदजनकं सिद्धासनं प्रोच्यते ॥ १.३७ ॥ |
atha siddhāsanam
yonisthānakaṃ aṅghrimūlaghaṭitaṃ kṛtvā dṛḍhaṃ vinyaset
meṇḍhre pādaṃ athaikaṃ eva hṛdaye kṛtvā hanuṃ susthiram ।
sthāṇuḥ saṃyamitendriyo'caladṛśā paśyedbhruvorantaraṃ
hyetanmokṣakapāṭabhedajanakaṃ siddhāsanaṃ procyate ॥ 1.37 ॥

Siddha-āsanam - Siddhasana is explained;
Yoni - perineum;
Sthānakam - to place;
Aṅghri-mūla - heel;
Ghatitaṁ - created, connected;
Kṛtvā - having, to make or to do;
Drathaṁ - solid;
Vinyasét - to put dow;
Mendaré - against or above penis;
Pādam - foot;
Atha - and, well, then;
Ekam - one;
Eva - truly, only;
Hṛdaye - the heart;
Kṛtvā - to make, to de;
Hanuṁ - chin;
Su-sthiram - stable, to fix;
Sthānuḥ - upright, immovable;
Saṁyamita - controlled, balanced;
Indriyó - senses;
Acala - immovable, fixed;
Dṛśā - vision;
Paśyed - focus;
Bharúvó - both eye brows;
Antaraṁ - between;
Hi - because;
Etad - this poture;
Mokṣha - for liberation;
Kapāṭa - the door;
Bhéda - breaking, opening;
Janakaṁ - causes, creates, caused;
Siddha-āsana - Siddhasana;
Prócyaté - is called;

When seated, firmly press the heel of the left foot against the perineum (the anal aperture and the right heel above and against the sex organ [the heels are stacked]. Press your chin into the manubrium of the chest bone (at the level of the heart) and sit calmly, with relaxed senses, while constantly gazing at the space between your eyebrows. This is called Siddhásana, the opening of the door of salvation.
