सिद्धं पद्मं तथा सिंहं भद्रं वेति चतुष्टयम् ।
श्रेष्ठं तत्रापि च सुखे तिष्ठेत्सिद्धासने सदा ॥ १.३६ ॥ |
siddhaṃ padmaṃ tathā siṃhaṃ bhadraṃ veti catuṣṭayam ।
śreṣṭhaṃ tatrāpi ca sukhe tiṣṭhetsiddhāsane sadā ॥ 1.36 ॥ |
Siddhaṁ - the Perfect;
Padmaṁ - the Lotus;
Tathā - likewise;
Siṁhaṁ - the lion;
Bhadraṁ - the lucky one, blessed one;
Vā - or;
Iti - these;
Catuṣṭayam - the group of four;
Śreshthaṁ - the best;
Tatra - among these;
Api - also, even;
Ca - and;
Sukhé - pleasant, comfortable;
Tiṣṭhét - one should stay;
Siddha-āsané - in the position of the perfect;
Sadā - always.

These four are: Siddha, Padma, Sinha and Bhadra. Just one of these, the Siddhásana, is very comfortable, and one should always take this position when seated.
