कर्पूरं अनले यद्वत्सैन्धवं सलिले यथा ।
तथा सन्धीयमानं च मनस्तत्त्वे विलीयते ॥ ४.५९ ॥ |
karpūraṃ anale yadvatsaindhavaṃ salile yathā ।
tathā sandhīyamānaṃ ca manastattve vilīyate ॥ 4.59 ॥ |
Karpūram: Camphor (Karpura)
Anale: in the fire (Anala)
Yad-vat: just like (Yadvat)
Saindhavaṃ: stone salt (Saindhava)
Salile: in the water (Salila)
Yathā: like (Yatha)
Tathā: just like (Tatha)
Sandhīyamānaṃ: (when he comes into contact) ("connecting", sam + dhā)
Ca: also (cha)
Manas: the spirit (manas)
Tattve *: in the (highest) reality (Tattva)
Vilīyate: disappears, dissolves on (vi + lī) || 59 ||

As camphor disappears in fire, and as rock salt dissolves in water, so the mind united with the âtmâ, loses its identity.
