एवं अभ्यस्यतस्तस्य वायुमार्गे दिवानिशम् ।
अभ्यासाज्जीर्यते वायुर्मनस्तत्रैव लीयते ॥ ४.५२ ॥ |
evaṃ abhyasyatastasya vāyumārge divāniśam ।
abhyāsājjīryate vāyurmanastatraiva līyate ॥ 4.52 ॥ |
Evam: so, this way (Evam)
Abhyasyataḥ: (the Khechari Mudra), practiced (abhi + as)
Tasya: for the (Tad)
Vāyu *: (the) wind (Vayu)
Mārge *: on the way (Marga)
Divā: day (diva)
Niśam: (and) night (Nisha)
Abhyāsāt: due to (regular) practice (Abhyasa)
Jīryate: dissolves ("is digested", jṝ)
Vāyuḥ **: (where the) life breath, breath, prana ("wind")
Manas: (also) the spirit (manas)
Tatra: there, there (Tatra)
Eva: just (Eva)
Līyate: disappears, is absorbed (lī) || 52 ||

By thus practising night and day the breathing is brought under control, and, as the practice increases, the mind becomes calm and steady.
