निरालम्बं मनः कृत्वा न किंचिदपि चिन्तयेत् ।
सबाह्याभ्यन्तरं व्योम्नि घटवत्तिष्ठति ध्रुवम् ॥ ४.५० ॥ |
nirālambaṃ manaḥ kṛtvā na kiṃcidapi cintayet ।
sabāhyābhyantaraṃ vyomni ghaṭavattiṣṭhati dhruvam ॥ 4.50 ॥ |
Nir-ālambaṃ: (in a) objectless ("supportless" state, Niralamba)
Manas: the spirit (manas)
Kṛtvā: after (he) brought ("made") (kṛ)
Na: not (Na)
Kiñ-cid: anything (Kinchid)
Api: also (Api)
Cintayet: (er) think (cint)
Saḥ: the (yogi, tad)
Bāhya: outside (Bahya)
Abhyantare: (and) inside (abhyantara)
Vyomni: in the (empty) space (Vyoman)
Ghaṭa-vat: like (an empty) pot (Ghata-vat)
Tiṣṭhati: is ("is" then, sthā)
Dhruvam: certainly (Dhruva) || 50 ||

Freeing the mind from all thoughts and thinking of nothing, one should sit firmly like an empty pot in the space
(surrounded by and filled with ether).
