तारे ज्योतिषि संयोज्य किंचिदुन्नमयेद्भ्रुवौ ।
पूर्वयोगं मनो युञ्जन्नुन्मनीकारकः क्षणात् ॥ ४.३९ ॥ |
tāre jyotiṣi saṃyojya kiṃcidunnamayedbhruvau ।
pūrvayogaṃ mano yuñjannunmanīkārakaḥ kṣaṇāt ॥ 4.39 ॥ |
Tāre: (the) pupils (tare)
Jyotiṣi *: on (the) light (jyotis)
Saṃyojya: directing (sam + yuj)
Kiñ-cid: a little, something (kinchid)
Unnamayet: to lift (ud + nam)
Bhruvau: (the) eyebrows (bhru)
Pūrva: (after the) before (learned, Purva)
Yogaṃ **: method (yoga)
Manas: the spirit (manas)
Yuñjan: concentrating (yuj)
Unmani: (of the state) "beyond the spirit" (Unmani)
Kārakaḥ: (the yogi becomes a) cause (Karaka)
Kṇaṇāt: instantaneous, immediately (Kshana) || 39 ||

Fix the gaze on a light (seen on the tip of the nose) and raise the eyebrows a little, with the mind contemplating
as previously described (in the Śambhavî Mudrâ that is, inwardly thinking of Brahma, but apparently looking outward). This will create the Unmanî avasthâ at once.
