इन्द्रियाणां मनो नाथो मनोनाथस्तु मारुतः ।
मारुतस्य लयो नाथः स लयो नादं आश्रितः ॥ ४.२९ ॥ |
indriyāṇāṃ mano nātho manonāthastu mārutaḥ ।
mārutasya layo nāthaḥ sa layo nādaṃ āśritaḥ ॥ 4.29 ॥

Indriyāṃāṃ: the senses (Indriya)
Manas: the spirit (manas)
Nāthaḥ: (is) the Lord, Lord (Natha)
Manas: of the Spirit
Nāthaḥ: is Lord, Lord
Tu: but, again (Tu)
Mārutaḥ: (the) life breath, breath, Prana ("wind", Maruta)
Mārutasya: (of) life-breath, breath, prana ("winds")
Layaḥ *: (the) resolution (of the mind, Laya)
Nāthaḥ: is Lord, Lord
Saḥ: the (Tad)
Layaḥ *: resolution (of the mind)
Nādam: (from the inner) sound (nada)
Āśritaḥ: is dependent ("supported", Ashrita) || 29 ||

The mind is the master of the senses, and the breath is the master of the mind. The breath in turn is subordinate
to laya (absorption), and that laya depends on the nâda (the inner sound).
