रसस्य मनसश्चैव चञ्चलत्वं स्वभावतः ।
रसो बद्धो मनो बद्धं किं न सिद्ध्यति भूतले ॥ ४.२६ ॥ |
rasasya manasaścaiva cañcalatvaṃ svabhāvataḥ ।
raso baddho mano baddhaṃ kiṃ na siddhyati bhūtale ॥ 4.26 ॥ |
Rasasya: of mercury (Rasa)
Manasaḥ: the spirit (manas)
Ca: and (Cha)
Eva: really (Eva)
Cañcala-tvaṃ: (the) inconsistency, discontent (chanchala)
Sva-bhāvataḥ: (consists) by virtue of (her) nature (her "peculiarity", Svabhava)
Rasaḥ: (as soon as that) mercury
Baddhaḥ: fixed ("bound") is (Baddha)
Manaḥ: (as soon as the) spirit
Baddhaṃ: is fixed ("bound")
Kiṃ: what (Kim)
Na: not (Na)
Sidhyati: succeeds (sidh)
Bhū-tale: on earth ("earth surface", Bhutala) || 26 ||

By nature, both mercury and the mind are unstable, but there is nothing in the world that cannot be accomplished
when either are stabilized.
