ज्ञात्वा सुषुम्णासद्भेदं कृत्वा वायुं च मध्यगम् ।
स्थित्वा सदैव सुस्थाने ब्रह्मरन्ध्रे निरोधयेत् ॥ ४.१६ ॥ |
jñātvā suṣumṇāsadbhedaṃ kṛtvā vāyuṃ ca madhyagam ।
sthitvā sadaiva susthāne brahmarandhre nirodhayet ॥ 4.16 ॥ |
Jñātvā: (if he) has learned ("learned") (jñā)
Suṇumṇā: (the) Sushumna
Sat: (the) right ("good", sat)
Bhedaṁ: (method for) opening ("breaking", bheda)
Kṛtvā: has caused (kṛ)
Vāyuṁ: (the) breath, Prana ("Wind", Vayu)
Ca: and (Cha)
Madhya-gam: (to flow) the middle (channel) ("go", Madhya-Ga)
Sthitvā: resting, resting ("abiding", sthā)
Sadā: always, always (Sada)
Eva: really (Eva)
Su-sthāne *: at a suitable ("good") place (Su-sthana)
Brahma-randhre **: (the breath, prana) in the Brahmarandhra (the "opening Brahmans")
Nirodhayet: let it disappear ("close in", ni + rudh) || 16 ||

Always living in a good locality, and having known the secret of the Sushumnâ, which has a middle course, by making the Vâyu move in it (the yogî) should restrain the Vâyu in the Brahma randhra.
