यदा संक्षीयते प्राणो मानसं च प्रलीयते ।
तदा समरसत्वं च समाधिरभिधीयते ॥ ४.६ ॥ |
yadā saṃkṣīyate prāṇo mānasaṃ ca pralīyate ।
tadā samarasatvaṃ ca samādhirabhidhīyate ॥ 4.6 ॥ |
Yadā: if (Yada)
Saṣkṣīyate: (in respiratory preservation) completely disappears (sam + kṣi)
Prāḥaḥ: (the life) breath (Prana)
Mānasaṁ: (the) spirit (the "spiritual", Manasa)
Ca: and (Cha)
Pralīyate: dissolving (pra + li)
Tadā: then (Tada)
Sama-rasa-tvaṁ *: (the resulting unit) ("Taste Equality", Sama-Rasa-tva)
Ca: and, but
Samādhiḥ **: Samadhi ("connection, sinking")
Abhidhīyate: is called (abhi + dhā) || 6 ||

When the Prâna becomes lean (lifeless) and the mind becomes absorbed, their achievement of balance is called Samâdhi.
