सलिले सैन्धवं यद्वत्साम्यं भजति योगतः ।
तथात्ममनसोरैक्यं समाधिरभिधीयते ॥ ४.५ ॥ |
salile saindhavaṃ yadvatsāmyaṃ bhajati yogataḥ ।
tathātmamanasoraikyaṃ samādhirabhidhīyate ॥ 4.5 ॥ |
Salile: in the water (Salila)
Saindhavaṁ: salt (Saindhava)
Yad-vat: (so) as (yadvat)
Sāmyaṁ: unity ("equality" with water, Samya)
Bhajati: obtained ("divides," bhaj)
Yogataḥ: due to the union (with this, yoga)
Tathā: (exactly) so (Tatha)
Ātma: (of) Soul (Atman)
Manasoḥ: and spirit (manas)
Aikyaṁ: (arises the) unit (Aikya)
Samādhiḥ: Samadhi ("connection, sinking")
Abhidhīyate: (this) is called (abhi + dhā) || 5 ||

As salt dissolved in water becomes one with it, so Âtmâ and mind become one, and that is called Samâdhi.
