वामोरुमूलार्पितदक्षपादं जानोर्बहिर्वेष्टितवामपादम् ।
प्रगृह्य तिष्ठेत्परिवर्तिताङ्गः श्रीमत्य्सनाथोदितं आसनं स्यात् ॥ १.२८ ॥ |
vāmorumūlārpitadakṣapādaṃ jānorbahirveṣṭitavāmapādam ।
pragṛhya tiṣṭhetparivartitāṅgaḥ śrīmatysanāthoditaṃ āsanaṃ syāt ॥ 1.28 ॥ |
Vāma - left;
Ūru - Thigh;
Mūla - root, origin;
Arpita - to put, to place, laying;
Dakṣa - right;
Pādaṁ - foot;
Jānoḥ - around the knee;
Bahis - outside, from outside;
Veṣṭita - to bind;
Vāma - left;
Pādam - Foot;
Pragṛhya - in the opposite way (the left foot near the right thigh);
Tiṣṭhet - persist;
Parivartita - twisted, changed;
Angaḥ - body parts;
Śrī - respected;
Matsya-nātha - Matsyanatha ("Lord of the Pisces);
Uditam - learned;
Āsanaṁ - body position;
Syāt - is;

While seated, rest the right foot on the ground where the left thigh begins and press the right knee with the left elbow to the left (rotate the upper body so that the right shoulder moves back) and grasp the big toe of the right foot with the right hand, passed along the back. Alternate on the left side. Hold this position. This is the ásana as explained by the respected yogi Sri Matsyanátha.
