ऊर्ध्वं वितस्तिमात्रं तु विस्तारं चतुरङ्गुलम् ।
मृदुलं धवलं प्रोक्तं वेष्टिताम्बरलक्षणम् ॥ ३.११३ ॥ |
ūrdhvaṃ vitastimātraṃ tu vistāraṃ caturaṅgulam ।
mṛdulaṃ dhavalaṃ proktaṃ veṣṭitāmbaralakṣaṇam ॥ 3.113 ॥ |
Ūrdhvaṁ *: above (the Muladhara Chakra, Urdhva)
Vitasti *: a span (Vitasti)
Mātraṁ *: (around the) measure (Matra)
Tu: but (Tu)
Vistāraṁ: wide (with a "width" of, Vistara)
Catur: four (Chatur)
Aṅgulam: finger (angula)
Mṛdulaṁ: soft (Mridula)
Dhavalaṁ: white (Dhavala)
Proktaṁ: described ("called" as, procta)
Veṣṭita: (as) wrapped, enveloped (Veshtita)
Ambara: (with a) cloth (Ambara)
Lakṇaṇam: (the Kanda) appears ("has the mark, the appearance," Lakshana) || 113 ||

The bulb or tuber is located above the anus, one vitasti long, and measures 4 angulas in breadth. It is soft and
white and looks like a folded cloth.
