अथ अमरोली
पित्तोल्बणत्वात्प्रथमाम्बुधारां
विहाय निःसारतयान्त्यधाराम् ।
निषेव्यते शीतलमध्यधारा
कापालिके खण्डमतेऽमरोली ॥ ३.९६ ॥ |

pittolbaṇatvātprathamāmbudhārāṃ
vihāya niḥsāratayāntyadhārām ।
niṣevyate śītalamadhyadhārā
kāpālike khaṇḍamate'marolī ॥ 3.96 ॥ |
Atha: now (follows, Atha)
Amarolī: Amaroli
Pitta: (with) Pitta ("bile")
Ulbaṇa-tvāt: because (this) enriched (is, Ulbana)
Prathama: (the) first (part of, Prathama)
Ambu: (of the urine ("water", Ambu)
Dhārāṁ: ray (Dhara)
Vihāya: omitting ("giving up", vi + hā)
Niḥsāratayā: because (this) is without essence (nihara)
Antya: (also the last) (part of, Antya)
Dhārām: ray
Niṣevyate: is drunk ("enjoyed, used", ni + sev)
Śītala: (only the) cool, cool (Shitala)
Madhya: middle (Madhya)
Dhārā: ray
Kāpālike: (at the sect of) Kapalikas
Khaṇḍa-mate *: the (an agent named) Khanda estimates (Mata)
Amarolī: (that is) Amaroli || 96 ||

In the doctrine of the sect of the Kapâlikas, the Amarolî is the drinking of the mid-stream urine, avoiding the beginning of the stream, as it is mixed with too much bile, and the end of the stream, which is useless.
