एकं पादं तथैकस्मिन्विन्यसेदुरुणि स्थिरम् ।
इतरस्मिंस्तथा चोरुं वीरासनं इतीरितम् ॥ १.२३ ॥ |
ekaṃ pādaṃ tathaikasminvinyaseduruṇi sthiram ।
itarasmiṃstathā coruṃ vīrāsanaṃ itīritam ॥ 1.23 ॥ |
Ekaṁ - one;
Pādaṁ - foot;
Tathā - and;
Ekasmin - on the other;
Vinyaset - to put on;
Ūruṇi - thigh;
Sthiram - stable;
Itarasmin - on the other;
Tathā - the same;
Ca - and;
Ūruṁ - (the other) thigh;
Vīra-āsanam - Heroic Position (Virasana);
Iti - so;
Īritam - (this seat position) is called.

While seated in a stable position, each foot should be placed on the opposite thigh. This is called Vîrâsana.
