सव्ये दक्षिणगुल्फं तु पृष्ठपार्श्वे नियोजयेत् ।
दक्षिणेऽपि तथा सव्यं गोमुखं गोमुखाकृतिः ॥ १.२२ ॥ |
savye dakṣiṇagulphaṃ tu pṛṣṭhapārśve niyojayet ।
dakṣiṇe'pi tathā savyaṃ gomukhaṃ gomukhākṛtiḥ ॥ 1.22 ॥ |
Savye - to the left;
Daksiṇa - the right;
Gulphaṁ - ankle;
Tu - however, again;
Pṛṣṭha - back;
Pārśve - sides;
Niyojayet - legs goes or placed;
Dakshiṇe - to the right;
Api - also, and;
Tathā - likewise;
Savyaṁ - (the) left;
Go-mukhaṁ - the position is called as Gomukha ("cow face");
Go - cow;
Mukha - face;
Ākritiḥ - the form.

While seated, rest the right ankle near your left hip and your left ankle near your right hip. This is Gomukhaâsana, because the shape is like that of a cow.
