ऊर्ध्वजिह्वः स्थिरो भूत्वा सोमपानं करोति यः ।
मासार्धेन न सन्देहो मृत्युं जयति योगवित् ॥ ३.४४ ॥ |
ūrdhvajihvaḥ sthiro bhūtvā somapānaṃ karoti yaḥ ।
māsārdhena na sandeho mṛtyuṃ jayati yogavit ॥ 3.44 ॥ |
Ūrdhva: (with) upwards directed (Urdhva)
Jihvaḥ: tongue (jihva)
Sthiraḥ: immovable (Sthira)
Bhūtvā: has become (bhū)
Soma *: (the) nectar (soma)
Pānaṁ *: (the) Drinking (Pana)
Karoti: executes (kṛ)
Yaḥ: who (yad)
Māsa: Month (Masa)
Ardhena: in half (Ardha)
Na: not (Na)
Sandehaḥ: (consists of one) doubt (sandeha)
Mṛtyuṁ: (the) death (Mrityu)
Jayati: defeated (Ji)
Yoga-vid: (such a) connoisseur of yoga || 44 ||

If a yogî drinks this Somarasa (nectar) by sitting with the tongue turned backwards and the mind concentrated, there
is no doubt that death is conquered within five days.
