चित्तं चरति खे यस्माज्जिह्वा चरति खे गता ।
तेनैषा खेचरी नाम मुद्रा सिद्धैर्निरूपिता ॥ ३.४१ ॥ |
cittaṃ carati khe yasmājjihvā carati khe gatā ।
tenaiṣā khecarī nāma mudrā siddhairnirūpitā ॥ 3.41 ॥ |
Cittaṁ: the Spirit (Chitta)
Carati: is staying ("moved", car)
Khe: in the empty space (between the eyebrows, Kha)
Yasmāt: because (Yad)
Jihvā: (and the) tongue (Jihva)
Carati: is staying ("moved")
Khe: in the empty space (of the skull)
Gatā: located ("gone", Gata)
Tena: therefore, therefore (Tad)
Eṣā: this (etad)
Khe-carī: Khechari ("the empty space")
Nāma: by name, by name (Nama)
Mudrā: Seal (Mudra)
Siddhaiḥ: from the Perfect (Siddha)
Nirūpitā: has been named ("fixed", Nirupita) || 41 ||

The Siddhas have devised this Khechari Mudrâ based on the fact that the mind and the tongue reach âkâśa by this
practice.
