कलां पराङ्मुखीं कृत्वा त्रिपथे परियोजयेत् ।
सा भवेत्खेचरी मुद्रा व्योमचक्रं तदुच्यते ॥ ३.३७ ॥ |
kalāṃ parāṅmukhīṃ kṛtvā tripathe pariyojayet ।
sā bhavetkhecarī mudrā vyomacakraṃ taducyate ॥ 3.37 ॥ |
Kalāṁ: the tongue (Kala)
Parāṅ-mukhīṁ: returned ("turned away", Paranmukha)
Kṛtvā: making (kṛ)
Tri-pathe *: into the hollow of the skull (the place of the "three ways" Tripatha, where Ida, Pingala and Sushumna unite)
Pariyojayet: man lege (pari + yuj)
Sā: this (Tad)
Bhavet: is ("be", bhū)
Khe-carī: (named) Khechari ("those who walk in heaven")
Mudrā: (the) seal (mudra)
Vyoma-cakraṁ: wheel, circle (of) the sky, air space, aether (vyomachakra)
Tad: the (Tad)
Ucyate: is (also) called (vac) || 37 ||

Turning the tongue upwards, it can be fixed upon the three ways (œsophagus, windpipe and palate.) This is the Khechari Mudrâ and is called the Vyoma Chakra.
