एवं क्रमेण षण्मासं नित्यं युक्तः समाचरेत् ।
षण्मासाद्रसनामूलशिराबन्धः प्रणश्यति ॥ ३.३६ ॥ |
evaṃ krameṇa ṣaṇmāsaṃ nityaṃ yuktaḥ samācaret ।
ṣaṇmāsādrasanāmūlaśirābandhaḥ praṇaśyati ॥ 3.36 ॥ |
Evaṁ: so, this way (evam)
Krameṇa: step by step, step by step (Krama)
Ṣaṣ: six (shash)
Māsaṁ: months (long, masa)
Nityaṁ: daily ("constant, regular", Nitya)
Yuktaḥ: concentrated (yukta)
Samācaret: (the yogi) move (sam + ā + car)
Ṣaṣ: (following) six
Māsāt: months
Rasanā: the tongue (Rasana)
Mūla: (at) the root (mula)
Śirā-bandhaḥ: (the) ribbon ("vessel band", Shira-Bandha)
Praṇaśyati: is completely severed ("disappears", pra + naś) || 36 ||

One should go on doing thus, regularly for six months. At the end of six months, the frænum of the tongue will
be completely severed.
