ततः सैन्धवपथ्याभ्यां चूर्णिताभ्यां प्रघर्षयेत् ।
पुनः सप्तदिने प्राप्ते रोममात्रं समुच्छिनेत् ॥ ३.३५ ॥ |
tataḥ saindhavapathyābhyāṃ cūrṇitābhyāṃ pragharṣayet ।
punaḥ saptadine prāpte romamātraṃ samucchinet ॥ 3.35 ॥ |
Tataḥ: then, thereafter (Tatas)
Saindhava: stone salt (Saindhava)
Pathyābhyāṁ *: (and the fruits of the) Chebulic Myrobalane (Pathya)
Cūrṇitābhyāṁ: with (a mixture of) crumbling (Churnita)
Pragharṣayet: rub (the cut) (pra + ghṛṣ)
Punaḥ: again, again (Punar)
Sapta-dine: one week ("of seven days" Sapta-Dina, i.e., the eighth day)
Prāpte: after course ("if attained", Prapta)
Roma: (one) hair (novel)
Mātraṁ: around the width ("the measure", Matra)
Samucchinet: cut into the tongues (sam + ud + chid) || 35 ||

Then rock salt and yellow myrobalan (both powdered) should be rubbed in where the tongue was cut. Seven days later, it should again be cut a hair's breadth.
