अष्टधा क्रियते चैव यामे यामे दिने दिने । पुण्यसंभारसन्धाय पापौघभिदुरं सदा । सम्यक्शिक्षावतां एवं स्वल्पं प्रथमसाधनम् ॥ ३.३१ ॥

aṣṭadhā kriyate caiva yāme yāme dine dine । puṇyasaṃbhārasandhāya pāpaughabhiduraṃ sadā । samyakśikṣāvatāṃ evaṃ svalpaṃ prathamasādhanam ॥ 3.31 ॥

Aṣṭadhā: eightfold, eightfold (Ashtadha) Kriyate: (this group of three mudras) is executed (kṛ) Ca: and (Cha) Eva: certainly (Eva) Yāme yāme: every three hours ("in every three-hour watch", Yama) Dine dine: day by day (Dina) Puṇya: (of spiritual) merits (Punya) Saṁbhāra: (a) quantity, fullness (Sambhara) Sandhāyi: (she) gives Pāpa: (of) evils, sins (dad) Ogha: (a) amount ("flood", Ogha) Bhiduraṁ: (and) destroyed ("splits like a thunderbolt," Bhidura) Sadā: always, any time (Sada) Samyak: Right (Samyak) Śikṣā-vatām: for those who receive (a traditional) lesson (Shiksha) Evaṁ: so, this way (evam) Su-alpaṁ: (should be) very short, of small extent (and then be increased, Svalpa) Prathama: first, first, at first (Prathama) Sādhanam: (his) execution (sadhana) || 31 ||


They should be practised in eight ways, daily and hourly. They increase the accumulation of good karma and lessen evil karma. People who are instructed well should begin their practice of this little by little at first.
