सोमसूर्याग्निसम्बन्धो जायते चामृताय वै । मृतावस्था समुत्पन्ना ततो वायुं विरेचयेत् ॥ ३.२८ ॥ |
somasūryāgnisambandho jāyate cāmṛtāya vai । mṛtāvasthā samutpannā tato vāyuṃ virecayet ॥ 3.28 ॥ |

Sūrya: "sun" or solar channel (Surya, i.e. Pingala)
Agni: (and) "fire", respectively, fire channel (Agni, i.e., Sushumna)
Sambandhaḥ: (the) link (Sambandha of)
Jāyate: arises (jan)
Ca: and (so, Cha)
Amṛtāya: (which leads to liberation (Amrita "immortality")
Vai: certainly (Vai)
Mṛta: (a) death (similar to, Mrita)
Avasthā: Condition (Avastha)
Samutpannā: (when) has been created (Samutpanna)
Tataḥ: then (Tatas)
Vāyuṁ: (the) air ("wind", Vayu)
Virecayet: breathe (the yogi) from (vi + ric) || 28 || |
The union of the Idâ and the Pingalâ is affected in order to bring about immortality. Once the prana becomes as if it were dead (by leaving its course through the Idâ and the Pingalâ, i.e., once it is confined), then it should be expelled. |
