रूपलावण्यसम्पन्ना यथा स्त्री पुरुषं विना ।
महामुद्रामहाबन्धौ निष्फलौ वेधवर्जितौ ॥ ३.२५ ॥ |
rūpalāvaṇyasampannā yathā strī puruṣaṃ vinā ।
mahāmudrāmahābandhau niṣphalau vedhavarjitau ॥ 3.25 ॥ |
Rūpa: beauty, beautiful figure (Rupa)
Lāvaṇya: (and) Grace, Liebreiz (Lavanya)
Sampannā: provided (with, Sampanna)
Yathā: (so) as (yatha)
Strī: (a) woman (without fruit remains, Stri)
Puruṁaṁ: (marriage) man (Purusha)
Vinā: without (vina)
Mahā-mudrā: Maha Mudra
Mahā-bandhau: (and) Maha Bandha
Niṣphalau: (to remain exactly the same) fruitless, useless, vain (Nishphala)
Vedha: (Maha) Vedha
Varjitau: without (Varjita) || 25 ||

As beauty and loveliness are no use to a woman without a husband, so the Mahâ Mudrâ and the Mahâ Bandha are useless without the Mahâ Vedha.
