धारयित्वा यथाशक्ति रेचयेदनिलम् शनैः ।
सव्याङ्गे तु समभ्यस्य दक्षाङ्गे पुनरभ्यसेत् ॥ ३.२१ ॥ |
dhārayitvā yathāśakti recayedanilam śanaiḥ ।
savyāṅge tu samabhyasya dakṣāṅge punarabhyaset ॥ 3.21 ॥ |
Dhārayitvā: after stopping (dhṛ)
Yathā-śakti: as long as possible ("for fortune", Yathashakti)
Recayet: you breathe out ("emptiness", ric)
Anilaṁ: (the) air ("wind", Anila)
Śanaiḥ: slow, gradual (shanais)
Savya: (on the left) (Savya)
Aṅge: Page (Anga)
Tu: but (Tu)
Samabhyasya: after practicing (sam + abhi + as)
Dakṣa: (on the) right (Daksha)
Aṅge: page
Punar: again, once again (Punar)
Abhyaset: rehearse, repeat (abhi + as) || 21 ||

Having held the air as long as possible, it should be expelled slowly. Having practised on the left side, it
should be practised on the right side.
