न हि पथ्यं अपथ्यं वा रसाः सर्वेऽपि नीरसाः ।
अपि भुक्तं विषं घोरं पीयूषं अपि जीर्यति ॥ ३.१६ ॥ |
na hi pathyaṃ apathyaṃ vā rasāḥ sarve'pi nīrasāḥ ।
api bhuktaṃ viṣaṃ ghoraṃ pīyūṣaṃ api jīryati ॥ 3.16 ॥ |
Na: not (s, Na)
Hi: because (it is for one who practices mahra mudra)
Pathyam: (what) salutary, healthy (Pathya)
Apathyaṁ: unhealthy, unhealthy (is, Apathya)
Vā: or (Va)
Rasāḥ: taste (sensations, raasa)
Sarve: all (Sarva)
Api: also, even (api)
Nīrasāḥ *: (Foods that have become) without taste, juicy, unpalatable (Nirasa)
Api: well, even
Bhuktaṁ: eaten (bhukta)
Viṁaṁ: Gift (Visha)
Ghoraṁ: terrible (ghora)
Pīyūṣam: Nectar (Piyusha)
Iva: like (Iva)
Jīryati: (are respectively) digested (jṝ) || 16 ||

There is nothing inherently wholesome or injurious, for the practice of this mudrâ destroys the injurious effects of all the rasas ("tastes"). Even the deadliest of poisons, if taken by a practitioner of this mudrâ, acts instead like nectar.
