न हि पथ्यं अपथ्यं वा रसाः सर्वेऽपि नीरसाः । अपि भुक्तं विषं घोरं पीयूषं अपि जीर्यति ॥ ३.१६ ॥

na hi pathyaṃ apathyaṃ vā rasāḥ sarve'pi nīrasāḥ । api bhuktaṃ viṣaṃ ghoraṃ pīyūṣaṃ api jīryati ॥ 3.16 ॥

Na: not (s, Na) Hi: because (it is for one who practices mahra mudra) Pathyam: (what) salutary, healthy (Pathya) Apathyaṁ: unhealthy, unhealthy (is, Apathya) Vā: or (Va) Rasāḥ: taste (sensations, raasa) Sarve: all (Sarva) Api: also, even (api) Nīrasāḥ *: (Foods that have become) without taste, juicy, unpalatable (Nirasa) Api: well, even Bhuktaṁ: eaten (bhukta) Viṁaṁ: Gift (Visha) Ghoraṁ: terrible (ghora) Pīyūṣam: Nectar (Piyusha) Iva: like (Iva) Jīryati: (are respectively) digested (jṝ) || 16 ||

There is nothing inherently wholesome or injurious, for the practice of this mudrâ destroys the injurious effects of all the rasas ("tastes"). Even the deadliest of poisons, if taken by a practitioner of this mudrâ, acts instead like nectar.
