ततः शनैः शनैरेव रेचयेन्नैव वेगतः ।
महामुद्रां च तेनैव वदन्ति विबुधोत्तमाः ॥ ३.१३ ॥ |
tataḥ śanaiḥ śanaireva recayennaiva vegataḥ ।
mahāmudrāṃ ca tenaiva vadanti vibudhottamāḥ ॥ 3.13 ॥ |
Tataḥ: then, thereupon (Tatas)
Śanaiḥ śanais: very slowly, evenly (shanais)
Eva: only (eve)
Recayet: you breathe out (Recha)
Na: not (Na)
Eva: certainly
Vegataḥ: fast, jerky ("with speed, impetuous", vega)
Iyaṁ: this (iyam)
Khalu: well, as is known (Khalu)
Mahā-mudrā: (as) Maha Mudra (the "great seal")
Mahā-siddhaiḥ: of the great (Maha) perfected (Siddha)
Pradarśitā: has been taught, designated (Pradarshita) || 13 ||

Then it should be released, very slowly and gently. For this very reason, the best of the wise men call it the Mahâ Mudrâ, which has been taught by great masters.
