अत्याहारः प्रयासश्च प्रजल्पो नियमाग्रहः ।
जनसङ्गश्च लौल्यं च षड्भिर्योगो विनश्यति ॥ १.१५ ॥ |
atyāhāraḥ prayāsaśca prajalpo niyamāgrahaḥ ।
janasaṅgaśca laulyaṃ ca ṣaḍbhiryogo vinaśyati ॥ 1.15 ॥ |
Atyāhāraḥ - excess in food;
Prayāsaḥ - exertion;
Ca - and (Cha);
Prajalpó - talkativeness;
Niyama - rule;
Grahaḥ - insistence;
Jana - People;
Saḥgaḥ - gathering;
Ca - and;
Laulyaṁ - restlessness, inconsistency, greed, desire (Laulya);
Ca - and;
Shaḍbhiḥ - through these six;
Yogaḥ - the yoga practice;
Vinaśyati - is destroyed (and becomes ineffective).

The following six practices cause the destruction of yoga: Overeating, exertion, talkativeness, failing to adhere to the rules (e.g., by taking a cold bath in the morning, eating at night, etc.), keeping the company of people who discuss a lot (discussions), and instability.
