अथ कपालभातिः
भस्त्रावल्लोहकारस्य रेचपूरौ ससम्भ्रमौ । कपालभातिर्विख्याता कफदोषविशोषणी ॥ २.३५ ॥ |
atha kapālabhātiḥ
bhastrāvallohakārasya recapūrau sasambhramau । kapālabhātirvikhyātā kaphadoṣaviśoṣaṇī ॥ 2.35 ॥ |
Atha - now
Kapāla-bhātiḥ - shining of the skull
Bhastrā-vat - such as a bellows
Loha-kārasya - of blacksmith
Reca - take out, exhalation
Pūrau - fill in, inhalation
Sa-sambhramau - quickly executed
Kapāla - the skull
Bhātiḥ - shining
Vikhyātā - well known
Kapha - Kapha
Doṣa - disturbances
Viśoṇaṇī - shooed, destroyed, dries out || 35 ||

When inhalation and exhalation are performed very quickly, like a blacksmith's bellows, this dries up all the disorders of kapha dosha and is known as Kapâla Bhâti.
