Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-24)

अच्छेद्योऽयमदाह्योऽयमक्लेद्योऽशोष्य एव च ।नित्यः सर्वगतः स्थाणुरचलोऽयं सनातनः ॥२- २४॥

acchedyo'yamadāhyo'yamakledyo'śoṣya eva ca ।nityaḥ sarvagataḥ sthāṇuracalo'yaṃ sanātanaḥ ॥2- 24॥



अच्छेद्यो acchedyas (m. nom. sg. gerundive a .*chid), = not to be pierced.; ऽयम ayam (m. nom. sg.), = this.; अदाह्यो adahya (m. nom. sg. gerundive a .*dah), = not to be burned.; ऽयम ayam (m. nom. sg.), = this.; अक्लेद्यो akledyas (m. nom. sg. gerundive a .*klid) ,= not to be wetted.; ऽशोष्य asosyas (m. nom. sg. gerundive .*sus), not to be dried.; एव eva, = indeed (used as a rhythmic filler).;  ca, = and.; नित्यः nityas (m. nom. sg.), = eternal, imperishable.;  सर्वगतः sarvagatah (m. nom. sg.), = "all going," all pervading.; स्थाणु sthanus (m. nom. sg.), = fixed, standing firmly, immovable.; अचलो acalas (m. nom. sg.), unmoving, immovable.; ऽयं ayam (m. nom. sg.), = this.; सनातनः sanatanas (m. nom. sg.), = primaeval, ancient, primordial, eternal.



This soul cannot be broken, nor can it be burned or dried or wetted. The soul
is eternal, all pervading, stable, constant and everlasting, and is thus
primeval. ||2-24||
