| Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-23) |
नैनं छिन्दन्ति शस्त्राणि नैनं दहति पावकः ।न चैनं क्लेदयन्त्यापो न शोषयति मारुतः ॥२- २३॥ |
nainaṃ chindanti śastrāṇi nainaṃ dahati pāvakaḥ ।na cainaṃ kledayantyāpo na śoṣayati mārutaḥ ॥2- 23॥ |
न na = not; एैनम enam (m. acc. sg.), = this.; छिन्दन्ति chindanti (3rd pI. pr. indie. act. .*chid), = they cut, they pierce, they chop.; शस्त्राणि śastrāṇi (n. nom. pl.), = weapons.; न na= not.; एैनम enam (m. acc. sg.), = this.; दहति dahati (3rd sg. pr. indie. act. .*dah), = it burns.; पावकः pavakas (m. nom. sg.), = fire, flame.; न na, = not.; च ca, = and.; एैनम enam (m. acc. sg.), = this.; क्लेदयन्त् ति kledayanti (3rd pI. pr. indic. causative act. *klid), they cause to become wet, they wet, they moisten.; आप apas (f. nom. pl.), = waters, the waters .; न na, = not, nor.; शोषयति sosayati (3rd sg. pr. indic. causative act. *sus~), = it causes to dry, it causes to wither.; मारुतः marutas (m. nom. sg.), = wind, the wind. |
The soul is so powerful that weapons cannot cut it, nor can fire burn it. The
water cannot immerse it nor can the air make it dry. ||2-23|
