वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि ।तथा शरीराणि विहाय जीर्णान्यन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही ॥२- २२॥

vāsāṃsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya navāni gṛhṇāti naro'parāṇi ।tathā śarīrāṇi vihāya jīrṇānyanyāni saṃyāti navāni dehī ॥2- 22॥

वासांसि vasamsi (n. acc. pl.), = gannents, clothes.; जीर्णानि jīrṇāni (n. acc. pl.), = worn out, old.; यथा yathā, = in which way, as.; विहाय vihāya (gerund vi *ha), = abandoning, casting away.; नवानि navani (n. acc. pl.), = new.; गृह्णाति gṛhṇāti (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. -*garbh) , he seizes, he grasps, he takes.; नरो naras (m. nom. sg.), = man.; ऽपराणि aparāṇi (n. acc. pl.), = others.; तथा tathā. = in this way. so.; शरीराणि śarīrāṇi (n. acc. pl.), = bodies.; विहाय vihāya (gerund vi *ha), = abandoning, casting away.; जीर्णानी jirnani (n. acc. pl.), = worn out, old.; अन्यन्यानि anyani (n. acc. pl.), = others.; संयाति saṃyāti (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. sam -*ya), he meets with, he encounters.; नवानि navani (n. acc. pl.), = new.; देही dehi (m. nom. sg.), = the embodied, the soul, the atman, the self.
