Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-12)

न त्वेवाहं जातु नासं न त्वं नेमे जनाधिपाः ।न चैव न भविष्यामः सर्वे वयमतः परम् ॥२- १२॥

na tvevāhaṃ jātu nāsaṃ na tvaṃ neme janādhipāḥ ।na caiva na bhaviṣyāmaḥ sarve vayamataḥ param ॥2- 12॥



 na, = not.; तु tu, = truly, indeed.; एैव eva, = indeed (used as a rhythmic filler).; अहम aham (nom. sg.), = I.; जातु jaitu, = ever.;  na, = not.; असं asam = (rst sg. imperf. act . .Jas) , I was, I existed.; न na, = not, nor.; तवम tvam (nom. sg.), = thou.;  na, = not, nor.; ime (m. nom. pl.), = these.; जनाधिपाः janādhipāḥ (m. nom. pl.), = lords of men, rulers of men. TP cpd.;  na, = not, nor.;  ca, = and, or.; एैव eva, = either, indeed (often used as a rhythmic filler).; न na, = not.; भविष्यामः bhavisyamah (3rd pI. fut. act. .Jbhu), = we shall be, we shall exist.; सर्वे sarve (m. nom. pl.), = all.; वयमतः vayam (nom. pl.), = we.; अतः atas, = from here.; परम् param (adj. acc. sg.), = beyond, after. (atal] param, henceforth, further on, from this time onward.)



The soul is ever permanent. Therefore, it is not proper to grieve. It is not that
myself, yourself or these kings never lived in the past. Nor is it that we
(souls) shall cease to live in the future. ||2-12||
