| Bhagavadgíta,-अष्टमोऽध्यायः । अक्षरब्रह्मयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-8, V.-25) |
धूमो रात्रिस्तथा कृष्णः षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम् ।तत्र चान्द्रमसं ज्योतिर्योगी प्राप्य निवर्तते ॥ ८-२५॥ |
dhūmo rātristathā kṛṣṇaḥ ṣaṇmāsā dakṣiṇāyanam । tatra cāndramasaṃ jyotiryogī prāpya nivartate ॥ 8-25॥ |
dhūmo (m. nom. sg.), smoke. ratris (f. nom. sg.), night. tatha, thus, so. kṛṣṇaḥ (m. nom. sg.), the dark lunar fortnight (also the name Krishna, but that is not meant here). ṣaṇmāsā (m.ln. nom. pl.), six months. dakṣiṇāyanam (n. nom. sg.), "the right hand going," the southern phase of the sun. tatra, there, thither. candramasam (n. acc. sg.), lunar. jyotis (n. acc. sg.), brightness, light. yogi (m. nom. sg.), yogin. prapya (gerundpra yap), attaining, reaching. nivartate (3rd sg. mid. ni .Jvr:t), he returns, he turns back, he is born again. |
The yogis devoted to motivated actions pass away from the world through
the God of smoke, God of night, God of dark fortnight, and God of six
months in which the Sun travels in the south; and travelling thus, they attain
the shining moon planet and again come back. ||8-25||
