| Bhagavadgíta,-अष्टमोऽध्यायः । अक्षरब्रह्मयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-8, V.-22) |
पुरुषः स परः पार्थ भक्त्या लभ्यस्त्वनन्यया ।यस्यान्तःस्थानि भूतानि येन सर्वमिदं ततम् ॥ ८-२२॥ |
puruṣaḥ sa paraḥ pārtha bhaktyā labhyastvananyayā । yasyāntaḥsthāni bhūtāni yena sarvamidaṃ tatam ॥ 8-22॥ |
puru~as (m. nom. sg.), spirit, man. sa (m. nom. sg.), this, he. paras (m. nom. sg.), highest, supreme. pārtha (m. voc. sg.), Son of Pltha, epithet of Arjuna referring to his mother KuntI or Prtha. bhaktyā (f. inst. sg.), by devotion, by wor-ship. labhya (m. nom. sg. gerundive .Jlabh), to be attained, attainable. tu, but, indeed. ananyaya (f. inst. sg.), not by it directed elsewhere. yasya (m. gen. sg.), of which. antaḥsthāni (n. nom. pl.), standing within, existing within. bhūtāni (n. nom. pl.), beings, all beings. yena (m. inst. sg.), by which. sarvamidam (n. nom. sg.), all this, all this universe. tatam (n. nom. p. pass. participle .Jtan), stretched, pervaded. |
And O Partha! In whom all beings reside and by whom this entire world is
pervaded (filled), such eternal Supreme Lord is attainable only by
uninterrupted exclusive devotion. ||8-22||
