गाण्डीवं स्रंसते हस्तात्त्वक्चैव परिदह्यते । न च शक्नोम्यवस्थातुं भ्रमतीव च मे मनः ॥१-३०॥

gāṇḍīvaṁ sraṁsate hastāttvakčaiva paridahjate । na ča śaknomjavasthātuṁ bhramatīva ča me manaḣ ॥1-30॥

गाण्डीवं gāṇḍīvaṃ (n. nom. sg.), Gāṇḍīvaṃ, the name of Arjuna's bow.; स्रंसते sramsate (3rd sg. pr. indic. mid . .*srams), it falls, it drops.;हस्तात hastāt (m. abl. sg.), = from the hand.; त्त्वक् tvakc (f. nom. sg.), = skin.; च ca, = and.; एव  eva, = indeed (used as a rhythmic filler).; परिदह्यते paridahyate (3rd sg. pr. indic. passive pari.*dah), = it is burned, it burns.; न na, = not.; च ca, = and.; शक्नोम saknomi (1St. sg. pr. indic. act. *sak), = I am able, I can, I have the power to.; एवस्थातुं ava sthātuṃ (infinitive ava *stha), to remain as I am, to stand.; भ्रमती bhramati (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. *bhram), it wanders, it rambles.; इव iva, = like, as it were.; मे me (gen. sg.), = of  me.; मनः manah (n. nom. sg.), = mind, intellect, under- standing.
