मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये ।यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्ति तत्त्वतः ॥ ७-३॥ |
manuṣyāṇāṃ sahasreṣu kaścidyatati siddhaye । yatatāmapi siddhānāṃ kaścinmāṃ vetti tattvataḥ ॥ 7-3॥ |
manuṣyāṇāṃ (m. gen. pl.), of men, of man-kind.; sahasreṣu (m. loco pl.), in thousands.; kaścid, anyone, anyone whatever (here, scarcely anyone).; yatati (3rd sg. pro indic. act . *yat), he strives, he stretches.; siddhaye (f. dat. sg.), to perfection, toward perfection.; yatatām (gen. pI. pro act. participle *yat), of the striving.; api. even, also.; siddhānāṃ (m. gen. pl.), of the perfected.; kaścid. anyone (here, scarcely anyone).; māṃ (acc. sg.), me.; vetti (3rd sg. pro indic. act. *vid), he knows.; tattvataḥ (adv.), truly, in reality. |
Among thousands of men, any one person strives to attain this knowledge of
perfection. And even among many such strivers, only one person knows Me
through real knowledge. ||7-3||
