| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-37) |
अर्जुन उवाच ।अयतिः श्रद्धयोपेतो योगाच्चलितमानसः ।अप्राप्य योगसंसिद्धिं कां गतिं कृष्ण गच्छति ॥ ६-३७॥ |
arjuna uvāca । ayatiḥ śraddhayopeto yogāccalitamānasaḥ । aprāpya yogasaṃsiddhiṃ kāṃ gatiṃ kṛṣṇa gacchati ॥ 6-37॥ |
अर्जुन = arjunas (m. nom. sg.), Arjuna.; उवाच = uvaca (3rd sg. perf. act. *vac), he said, he spoke.; अयतिः = ayatiḥ (m. nom. sg.), the uncontrolled one, the unsubdued one.; श्रद्धाय = śraddhay (f. inst. sg.), by faith, with faith.; उपेतो = upeto (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle upa*í), arrived at.; योगा = yoga (m. abl. sg.), from Yoga.; चलित = calita (p. pass. participle *cal), moved, gone astray, deviated, fallen away.; मानसः = mānasaḥ (m. nom. sg.), mind, spirit. (calitamānasaḥ, m. nom. sg. BV cpd., whose mind has fallen away.); अप्राप्य = aprāpya (gerund a pra *ap), not attaining, not reaching, without attaining.; योगसंसिद्धिं = yogasaṃsiddhiṃ (f. acc. sg.), Yoga-perfec-tion, perfection in Yoga.; कां = kāṃ (f. acc. sg. interrog.), what?; गतिं = gatiṃ (f. acc. sg.), road, goal, path.; कृष्ण = kṛṣṇa (m. voc. sg.), Krishna.; गच्छति = gacchati (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. *gam), he goes, he walks, he moves. |
Arjuna said: O Krishna! One, although having faith and interest but being unable to practice necessarily, if deviates from yoga and does not attain perfection then what does that person attain to? ||6-37||
