| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-18) |
यदा विनियतं चित्तमात्मन्येवावतिष्ठते ।निःस्पृहः सर्वकामेभ्यो युक्त इत्युच्यते तदा ॥ ६-१८॥ |
yadā viniyataṃ cittamātmanyevāvatiṣṭhate । niḥspṛhaḥ sarvakāmebhyo yukta ityucyate tadā ॥ 6-18॥ |
यदा = yadā, when.; विनियतं = viniyatam (n. nom. sg. p. pass. participle vini *yam), controlled, subdued.; चित्तम = cittam (n. nom. sg.), thought.; आत्मन् = ātman (m. loe. sg.), in the self.; एव = eva, indeed (used as a rhythmic filler).; अवावतिष्ठते = āvatiṣṭhate (3rd sg. pr. indie. mid. ava*stha), he is absorbed, he abides in, he remains.; निःस्पृहः = niḥspṛhaḥ (m. nom. sg.), free from desire, free from longing.; सर्व = sarva, all.; कामेभ्यो = kāmebhyo (m. abl. sg.), from desires, from lust.; युक्त = yuktas (m. nom. sg.), disciplined, steadfast.; इति = iti, thus.; उच्यते = ucyate (3rd sg. pr. indie. passive *vac), he is said to be, he is called.; तदा = tadā, then. |
When such a perfectly controlled mind gets fully situated in the Lord, then, at that time, free from desires of all sense gratifications, such a person is considered to be well established in yoga. ||6-18||
