| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-27) |
स्पर्शान्कृत्वा बहिर्बाह्यांश्चक्षुश्चैवान्तरे भ्रुवोः ।प्राणापानौ समौ कृत्वा नासाभ्यन्तरचारिणौ ॥ ५-२७॥ |
sparśānkṛtvā bahirbāhyāṃścakṣuścaivāntare bhruvoḥ । prāṇāpānau samau kṛtvā nāsābhyantaracāriṇau ॥ 5-27॥ |
स्पर्शन = sparśan (m. acc. pI. from *sprs), touchings, contacts; कृत्वा = kṛtvā (gerund Jk1:), making, doing, perform-ing, having made, having performed.; बहि = bahi (adv.), outside, exterior.; बार्ह्यां = bāhyāṃ (m. acc. pl.), expelled, external, foreign, excluded.; चक्षु = cakṣuś (m. nom. sg.), seeing, gaze, eye.; च = ca, and.; एव = eva, indeed (used as a rhythmic filler).; अन्तरे = antare (m. loc. sg.), in between, inside.; भ्रुवोः = bhruvoḥ (f. gen. dual), of the two eyebrows, of the two brows.; प्राण = prāṇa (m.), vital breath, inhalation.; अपान = apana (m.), abdominal breath, exhalation. (prāṇāpānau, m. acc. dual, the vital breath and the abdominal breath, inhalation and exhalation.); समौ = samau (m. acc. dual), equal, the same, sim-ilar.; कृत्वा = kṛtvā (gerund *krt:), making, having made.; नासा = nāsa (f.), nose.; भ्यन्तर = abhyantara, within, interiorly.; चारिणौ = carinau (dual from *car), moving. By forsaking the outer objects to outside, fixing the vision of eyes between the eyebrows and equaling the inner and outer breaths moving in the nostrils, doing thus the sage who has controlled the senses, mind, and intellect becomes free from desire, fear, anger, and intent on liberation and is thus certainly ever liberated. ||5-27,28||
